In the prison of Lilongwe, Malawi, inmates wear their street clothes due to the overpopulation of the prison. The prison holds a maximum capacity of 1500 inmates, but over 2800 reside there. Some prisoners are given the task of guarding the main entrance gate to the prison. This overcrowding is brought about by a lack of funding for their Judicial system, and in turn inmates wait for months in hopes to receive a fair trial.
